It's here! My collab with NYC Sanitation š
Launching a kids game I've been working on for 2 years
Friends,
Iām starting the year with a big celebration. Follow Your Waste, a trash sorting game for kids that I art directed, illustrated, and worked on for 2 years, has finally launched!
And no honey, weāre not done celebrating just yet because⦠š„
My first ever collab with a clothing brand just launched!
I designed some tees and hoodies based on the Follow Your Waste game, and Iām stoked to be working with Neighborhood Spot, a brand whose mission is to make quality goods that help support small, local NYC businesses and organizations.
Thatās why half of the proceeds from my collection will be going to Sanitation Foundation, the official non-profit of NYC Department of Sanitation and the wonderful people I worked with to make Follow Your Waste a reality.
The design that you see on the back of the tees and hoodies is actually a scene from the paper recycling stream in the game, where a giant claw reaches down into a pile of recycled paper, ie. a collage I made out of cut Post-Its and newsprint I had in my house. ā»ļø Fun fact: if you live in NYC, your paper recycling gets taken to a paper mill in Staten Island to be made into cardboard boxes!
Let me know what you think about the game and the clothing collection, or if you order a tee or hoodie! P.S., Neighborhood Spot runs on a preorder format, which I love because it greatly reduces waste.
Thank you for cheering me on as I try out new things, fall on my face sometimes, freak out, and let out big, hearty laughs into the universe. Letās just say, Iām learning a lot and Iām happy to be here with all of you kind souls.
Love,
Haruka

Whatās been inspiring me lately
A beautiful song about clouds by Tsunekichi Suzuki. Listening to this, I feel like Iām waiting for a bus in the countryside on a cool, rainy day.
